2 Days Tarangire National Park Safari Tour : Tarangire National Park is part of the Northern Tanzania safari circuit, which comprises Manyara National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, and Serengeti National Park. This national park has prolific wildlife: Elephant migration, which happens every year from June to October, makes it the park with the highest concentration of Elephants in the world; also, the park has many budget, mid-range, and luxury safari lodges, hotels, and tented camps.
The Tarangire National Park is home to some of the sheer amount of wildlife and is famous and known for its unique changing landscapes. This park is very close to Arusha town, just a two-hour drive, and makes it easily accessible; many of the travelers combine it with Lake Manyara and the Serengeti safari tour.
The name Tarangire is derived from the river that crosses this park, where you can also see the highest animal densities during the dry season.
Why do East Africa Safari Guides recommend two days in Tarangire Safari Tours?
During the dry season, it is best to visit Tarangire National Park since it boasts over 6,000 animal migrations, especially from June to October; it’s possible to see more than 300 groups of elephants together. And that makes the park the best place to visit.
Not only does the migration make the park stunning, but also other animals like lions, cheetahs, leopards, impalas, buffaloes, hyenas, giraffes, and over 500 bird species.
We recommend this short but astonishing game drive experience in Tarangire after either Kilimanjaro or Meru climbs; the road from Arusha to the entrance gate of Tarangire National Park is smooth and tarmac, with no dusty or bumps until you arrive in the park, which is usually everywhere.
What will be my 2-day Tarangire Safari Itinerary?
DAY 1. ARUSHA TO TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK
Your private driver will pick you up from the hotel and head to Tarangire National Park, just a two-hour drive from Arusha town and four hours from Moshi town. After arriving at the entrance gate and doing all the legal formalities, you will begin the game drive inside the Tarangire National Park with your packed lunch. With a single click, you will see lions or cheetahs patrolling the savannah or leopards relaxing on the tree. Alongside the land animals, the park is also home to birds like Yellow-necked spurfowl, Yellow-billed stork, Northern white-crowned shrike, Black-necked weaver, Lilac-breasted rollers, and many others. This park is the sixth largest in Tanzania with an area of 2,850 km², so covering it in a single day wouldn’t be possible, thanks to our two-day itinerary.
After exploring the park for a whole day, head to the Tarangire Safari Lodge, which is located at the very best angle with an endless view of grassland. It offers a comfy stay, good food, and welcoming staff.
DAY 2. FULL-DAY GAME DRIVE IN TARANGIRE.
After the early morning game drive, you will embark on a day game with your safari guide. Today, have a chance to tick off all the animals you want to see, drive to the southern area of the park, famously known for its animal migration, and enjoy the incredible wildlife that the park has to offer.
Around midday, you will enjoy lunch in the bush before starting your journey back to Arusha, and your guide will either drop you off at the hotel or any airport inside Arusha town.
